The story

About ThePostcardNotes

ThePostcardNotes started as a single guide for my friend heading to Istanbul with her family. She needed something practical, mobile-first, and warm — the kind of local advice that doesn't fit in a typical travel app. So I wrote down the places I loved, the food I missed, and the rhythms I knew from living there.

A woman walking down a narrow stone alley in Istanbul, with red Turkish flags and magenta bougainvillea overhead.
A quiet alley in Antalya, Turkey — the kind of everyday street that shaped these guides.

My obsession with slow, intentional travel started right after high school, when I went to Cambodia with a health youth corps. Since then, I've worked as a teacher in Istanbul and Beirut, lived in California, and spent deep time traveling through Vietnam, Nicaragua, and Mexico. Everywhere I've been, I have completely fallen in love with the people, the landscapes, and everything in between. It's the micro-details that mesmerize me—the hidden street food stalls, the perfect local morning routines, and sacred spaces you find along the way.

Every guide on this site is built for first-time visitors, especially multi-generational trips. That means slow mornings and the kind of details a friend would mention over tea.

Right now, Istanbul is ready. Barcelona, Mexico City, and Marrakesh are coming soon. If you'd like a guide for your next trip, drop a note from the home page.

Bon voyage,
Arez
